Authors

Manage the editorial authors whose posts appear on your site

An author is a record for someone who writes editorial content for your site. Authors are linked to posts, and each author has a public bio page that visitors can reach from any of their posts.

Authors are kept separate from people records (used for the cast and creative team of events) — different audience, different intent. An author writes for the site; a person performs at it. The same individual can have both records if they do both.

What an author record contains

  • A first name and last name.
  • An optional byline — the name as it should appear on the post itself, if it differs from the canonical first/last name.
  • A biography — rich-text body content for the author's page.
  • An author image or headshot.
  • Links — website, social media, or other relevant URLs.
  • An optional role or title ("Senior Critic", "Programme Note Writer").

Linking an author to a post

Open the post and add one or more authors. A post can have many authors, and the order matters — your theme typically respects it as the byline order.

Multi-author posts

When a post has more than one author, your theme decides how the byline reads ("by A and B", "by A, B, and C"). The post's archive listings, social-share metadata, and structured data all reflect the full author list.
