A

Announcement

A site-wide banner or notice rendered by your theme — typically at the top of every page, scoped to where you choose. See Site-wide announcements.

App

An integration with an external system — ticketing, CRM, donor tools, asset management. Apps add fields, pickers, sync actions, and public widgets to your site. See Apps & integrations.

Author

A reusable record for someone who writes editorial content. Authors are linked to posts and have public bio pages. See Authors.

Autosave

The continuous saving of your in-progress work as a draft version. See Versioning and history.

B

Block

A self-contained section of content that you stack on a page — a hero, a row of cards, a video embed, an event listing, and so on. Blocks come from your theme. See Building pages with blocks.

Blog

A container for editorial posts. A site can have one blog or several. See Blog.

Blueprint

A preset starting point for new content — a defined arrangement of blocks that pre-fills a new page, event, or post. Different from a template. See Blueprints.

C

Category

A primary grouping for posts inside a single blog. Distinct from tags. See Categories and tags.

Collaborator

A user who works with your organisation but isn't part of your internal team — typically with limited access scoped to specific content. See Collaborators.

Content type

A kind of record in Basker — pages, events, posts, people, venues, and so on. The built-in content types are listed in The content model. New types can be added as Custom objects.

Custom attribute

An extra field added to an existing content type — a "Run time" field on every event, a "Pronouns" field on every person. See Custom attributes.

Custom object

An entirely new content type defined for your organisation, with its own fields and admin area. See Custom objects.

D

Domain

The address visitors use to reach your site. A site can have one domain or several. See Domains.

Draft

Content that exists in Basker but isn't visible to visitors. The safe default while you're still working on something. See Drafts, preview, and publishing.

E

Event

A top-level production, run, or show — anything with dates, performances, a venue, and people involved. See Create events.

Event instance

A single dated occurrence of an event — what audiences see as a showtime. Also called a performance. See Event instances.

F

File

A non-image upload — PDFs, programmes, brochures, audio. Files sit alongside the media library. See Files.

Focal point

The part of an image that should always stay in frame when the image is cropped to different shapes. Set per-image in the media library. See Media library.

Form

A configurable form embedded on a page. Submissions are captured, optionally emailed to your team, and recorded for review. See Forms.

L

Layout

The outer shell that wraps a page on the live site — header, footer, navigation, global elements. Defined by your theme. See Blocks, templates, and layouts.

M

Media

Images uploaded to your site. The Media library carries images with alt text, caption, credit, focal point, and tags. See Media library.

Media transformation

A defined size and shape that an image is served at — themes request images at specific transformations like hero or thumbnail. See Media transformations.

P

Page

A standalone piece of content on your site — About, Contact, landing pages, and any other URL not driven by a more specific content type. See Create pages.

Page tree

The hierarchical structure of pages on your site, controlling navigation order and URL structure. See Organising pages in the site tree.

Performance

A single dated occurrence of an event. Same thing as an Event instance — Basker uses both terms.

Person

A reusable record for someone who appears across your events and content — artists, conductors, designers, contributors. Each person has their own public page. See People.

Post

An editorial entry inside a blog. See Create a post.

Preview

A rendering of draft content as it will appear on the live site. Can be shared via signed link with people who don't have a Basker account. See Drafts, preview, and publishing.

Published

Content that's live on the site and discoverable through navigation, search, and direct links.

R

Redirect

A rule that sends visitors from one URL to another. Basker creates many redirects automatically; manual ones can be added too. See Redirects.

Reusable section

A piece of content built once and embedded on many pages. Updates flow through to every page that references it. See Reusable sections.

Role

The set of rules that decide what a user can do on your site. Built-in roles cover common cases; custom roles handle the rest. See Roles and permissions.

S

Scheduled

A draft that's been finalised and set to publish at a future moment.

Search boost

A rule that pushes specific records higher in search results when visitors use certain terms. See Search & discovery.

Search synonym

A group of words treated as equivalent for search — "concert" and "performance", or alternate spellings of a name. See Search & discovery.

Season

A programming-cycle grouping for events — typically your year's programme. Each event belongs to one season. See Seasons and series.

Series

A curated grouping for events that may span seasons or sub-divide them — festivals, themed weekends, recital series. An event can belong to many series. See Seasons and series.

Smart collection

A dynamic listing of records that match a rule, with its own page on your site. "Upcoming events", "Recent posts in this category", and similar. See Smart collections.

T

Tag

A free-form label applied to posts (and shared across blogs). Distinct from categories. See Categories and tags.

Template

A layout choice for a page on the live site. The available templates come from your theme. Different from a blueprint. See Blocks, templates, and layouts.

Theme

The custom design and behaviour layer that turns your content into a live site. Defines templates, blocks, layouts, and theme settings. See Themes.

Theme deployment

A moment when a new version of your theme was applied to your site. See Theme deployments.

Theme settings

The global controls your theme exposes — colours, fonts, header behaviour, and so on. See Theme settings.

U

User

Someone who can sign in to Basker and edit your site. Has a profile and at least one role. See Users.

V

Venue

A reusable record for a place where events happen. Each venue has its own public page. See Venues.

Versioning

The history Basker keeps of every change to most content. Used for comparison and rollback. See Versioning and history.

Visibility

Whether a published record appears in your site's navigation and search. Controlled by Show in navigation and Show in search options. See Visibility.

W

Work

A reusable record for the production, piece, or repertoire performed at an event. See Works.
