Editor tips and shortcuts
Quick navigation, dark mode, and other small things that make Basker faster to use day-to-day
A few small editor features that can make Basker faster to work in once you know they're there.
Command menu
Press Cmd + K (macOS) or Ctrl + K (Windows and Linux) anywhere in Basker to open the command menu. It's the quickest way to jump around without using the sidebar.
Useful jumps:
- Search inside an area: type the name of the content area you want (Pages, Events, Posts, People), then press Shift + Enter on it to search inside that area by title.
- Open settings: type a setting area name (Domains, Languages, Apps) to land on the right screen.
Besides navigation, the command menu has a few slash-commands: /create to jump to a create screen, /theme to switch the editor's light, dark, or auto appearance, and /logout to sign out. Press Esc to close the menu without picking anything.
Dark mode
Basker's editor has a light mode and a dark mode. Toggle between them from your account preferences. The setting is per-user and per-device: what looks good on your laptop in a bright office might not match what you want on a phone at night.
Dark mode is an editor preference only. It doesn't affect the live site, doesn't change which theme settings render publicly, and doesn't affect what other people see when they open Basker.
