Reusable sections
Build a section of content once and use it across many pages
A reusable section is a piece of content that lives in one place and can be referenced from many pages. Instead of copying the same hero banner or call-to-action onto every page, build it once as a reusable section and embed it wherever you need it. When you update the reusable section, every page that references it updates too.
Open Sections under Website in Basker. The screen is titled Sections and subtitled Create reusable sections to use across your website.
When to use a reusable section
Good candidates:
- Marketing banners that change often and appear on multiple pages.
- A "join the mailing list" call-to-action used at the bottom of several pages.
- A schedule or programme summary that appears across pages and posts.
- Any block of content that would otherwise be duplicated and need updating in multiple places.
Less good candidates:
- One-off content that only ever appears in one place — write it directly into the page.
- Content that needs to look slightly different on each page — small variations are easier to manage as page-level content.
Creating a reusable section
Reusable sections live in their own area of Basker. Create a new one, give it a title, and add the blocks the section will contain — the same block types you'd use on a page.
Save the section. It becomes available to embed on any page.
Embedding a reusable section
Open a page in the editor and add a Reusable section block at the position you want the section to appear. Pick the section from the list. The blocks defined inside the section render on the page as if you'd added them directly.
The same reusable section can be embedded on as many pages as you need.
Updating a reusable section
Edit the section in its own area, not on a page where it's embedded. Saving the changes updates every page that references it.
