Works
Manage the productions, pieces, and repertoire performed at your events
A work is a reusable record for the production, piece, or repertoire being performed at an event. The same work — a piece of music, an opera, a play, a programmed lecture — can be performed at many events over time. Building it as a record means you write the description once and reference it from every event that performs it.
What a work record contains
- A title — the work's canonical title.
- An optional alternative title — original-language title, working title, alternate translations.
- A description — rich-text body content covering the work itself.
- A composer, author, or creator — usually a link to a person record.
- Optional duration in minutes.
- Optional year of composition or first performance date.
- A header image and any supporting media.
When to create a work record
Create a work record when:
- The same piece is likely to be performed more than once.
- The piece has substantial standalone description that would be cumbersome to copy onto each event.
- You want a discoverable page for the work (a piece your audience can search for and read about, independent of any specific concert).
For a one-off, brand-new piece with no standalone page, you can leave it as plain text on the event.
Linking a work to an event
Open the event and add the work to its programme or repertoire section. An event can list many works, in performance order. The same work can appear on as many events as it's performed at.
